Developmental Editing
Do you have the bones of a book—a basic draft—already written, but you’re getting lost in the organization and details? You might need a guide to brainstorm ideas with, help you to strengthen your voice, sharpen ideas into tangible concepts, or even implement changes in chapter order or content. If you can a written manuscript but need specific, strategic questions to propel you forward, developmental editing is what you need.
Collaborative Writing
Is there a book idea haunting you? Have you been intimidated by the writing process, or plagued by paralysis? You may need a writing midwife to co-labor with you—through interviews, combing through past work, and writing with you in your voice—in order to bring your book into the world.
Sensitivity Reading
If you have written a manuscript but could use another pair of eyes to check for unconscious biases or cultural or historical inaccuracies pertaining to the African diaspora (especially in the United States and the Caribbean) I can help.
